Okay, what is your mind on right now? What was the last thought you had? Well, researchers estimate that we think about 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts a day – and about 80% of those thoughts are negative. Many of these thoughts are from our subconscious so we are not even aware they are lurking in our mind.

Last week I asked if you talked to yourself. What are you saying to yourself during the day?
We all have 86,400 seconds a day. So what are you thinking about yourself, the world, life and others? I recently found an old journal from 2008 where I had written down affirmations after attending a workshop by Edwene Gaines. It was interesting to see what was on my mind back then.

Jack Canfield, co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul says in order to counter negative self- talk it helps to “bombard your subconscious with positive thoughts and images by saying statements such as, “I am confidently expressing myself openly and honestly.”

I agree. I have been practicing affirmations for over 20 years and even with this practice my mind can careen off to crazy circle or anxious avenue. Thinking, writing, or saying affirmations regularly helps me to create a mental playlist that can be on auto shuffle and that keeps focused on more positive thoughts than negative thoughts.

When I created my audio, 40 Energy Balancing Affirmations, I wanted to offer positive thoughts to help manage any dips or surges with energy. These affirmations have repetitive phrases which also helps with training your brain to focus on the positive.

Shifting your thoughts from negative self-talk to positive self-talk is a practice. Here is a sample of the 40 Energy Balancing Affirmations, the full audio is available on new Etsy page, BreathewithBarbara, check it out and feel free to share the link with others. These affirmations are a great way to get you used to focusing more on positive self-talk.
